John E. Davidson
Mr. Davidson's practice spans the areas of employment law, appeals, and trials of all kinds, with an emphasis on federal court litigation, including complex civil and criminal matters.Mr. Davidson is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was a member of the Virginia Law Review. Upon
graduation, the faculty awarded him the Earle K. Shawe Labor Relations Award as the graduate with the greatest promise in the field of
labor relations. Following a federal clerkship, Mr. Davidson practiced with a large national law firm, McGuireWoods, where he was a defense
lawyer for publicly-traded corporations, insurance companies, banks and government entities. In 2000, Mr. Davidson co-founded Davidson & Kitzmann, PLC expanding his practice to include the representation of individuals.
Mr. Davidson serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Virginia School of Law, where he has taught an advanced employment
law class for ten consecutive academic years. By invitation, he is a permanent member of the Judicial Conference of the United States
Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
For several years, Virginia Business magazine has named Mr. Davidson to its annual list of the "Legal Elite". Also for several years, Richmond magazine named Mr. Davidson to its "Up and Coming Stars" list of the "best lawyers" under the age of 40. Both honors resulted from surveys of Virginia lawyers seeking their opinions of the "best" in the profession.*
Mr. Davidson is a frequent lecturer on a variety of legal topics and often teaches continuing legal education courses to other lawyers. He has published in the Virginia Law Review, the George Mason
University Civil Rights Law Journal, and the Journal of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. Recent speaking engagements include
teaching a continuing legal education course on the use of expert witnesses in complex litiation, discovery, trial practice, and employment contracts, debating the merits of class-action
lawsuits at the University of Virginia Law School, and lecturing to physicians about negotiating contracts.
Mr. Davidson has served and continues to serve in a variety of civic and leadership positions. These include:

- Secretary-Treasurer, Thomas Jefferson Inn of Court (2004-2005)
Mr. Davidson also is the legal advisor to the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law task force devising official guidelines for psychiatrists conducting various types of disability evaluations. Finally, he is the supervising attorney for the Virginia Department of Employee Dispute Resolution's law student advocate program, where he supervises a pro bono clinic of law students at the University of Virginia School of Law representing state employees in grievances.
Mr. Davidson is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, and the Supreme Court of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
